Mark T. Reyland

Mark_Blue_tie_front_small.jpgSince childhood, Mr. Reyland has successfully traversed the turbulent waters of entrepreneurship, inventing, and product development many times.

He began his professional career and several creative ventures while serving in the United States Air Force and then with the National Security Agency (NSA) as both a Senior Intelligence Analyst and Executive in charge of classified technology innovation programs. Mr. Reyland has applied many of those unique skills to his work as a successful inventor.

Mr. Reyland’s long list of accomplishments include Director of Classified Technology Development for a fortune 500 company, National Security Agency liaison to the Korean government, and a successful technology and product inventor with many products in the marketplace for both industry and consumer product retail.

Founding nine companies since high school, Mr. Reyland is currently the Founder and CEO of Obvious Ideas LLC, a Cincinnati based product development company specializing in providing fully developed products to traditional retail and the direct response industry.

Additionally, Mr. Reyland serves the inventor community as Executive Director and Board Member of The United Inventors Association of America. In addition to being the country’s oldest and largest non-profit inventor organization, the UIA is a team of well respected professional inventors, executives, and product suppliers providing education and guidance to its members through the many inventor outreach programs under Mr. Reyland’s leadership.

He is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and The National Cryptologic University in Washington D.C.

Mr. Reyland’s technology inventions and retail products have been widely published in magazines and trade journals around the world. You can often hear him as a guest lecturer at universities, media programs, and inventor forums, or read his daily UIA Inventor blog,

New Executive Director Appointed by UIA Board

Mr. Mark Reyland has been selected as the United Inventors Association’s next Executive Director, effective August 24, 2010.

“At the conclusion of a stringent selection process, we feel very happy that Mark accepted the position as our next Executive Director”, says Warren Tuttle, UIA Board President. “Mark has been an active and well respected member of the inventor community for many years, and is well known for his passion for helping inventors. Our entire board feels Mark will bring a fresh approach and enthusiasm to the UIA, while leading the charge towards continuing our nonprofit Mission.”

As part of this planned transition, Mark takes the helm of the UIA from Patrick Raymond, who served as Executive Director since September 2008. According to Mr. Tuttle, “Patrick has faithfully served the inventor community as the Executive Director. Patrick will remain actively involved at the UIA as its next Treasurer on the UIA’s all-volunteer Board of Directors. We wish him all very best in his new business www.MyInventionScore.com, a private service he recently pioneered.”

About the new Executive Director
Having served many years with the National Security Agency (NSA) -- as both a Senior Intelligence Analyst and executive in charge of Classified Technology Innovation & Program Development -- Mr. Reyland has applied many of these unique skills to his work as a successful inventor. Currently he is Founder and CEO of Obvious Ideas LLC - a Cincinnati based product Development Company specializing in providing fully developed products to traditional retail and the Direct Response industry. Although Mr. Reyland often does product development consulting for other companies, most evenings you’ll find him on the phone volunteering his time mentoring new inventors through the process of developing their dreams into a reality.
