The following explains the privacy policy of the United Inventors Association. Please read this thoroughly in order to ensure that you understand the circumstances under which the United Inventors Association collects data regarding users of the United Inventors Association Web Site and under which the United Inventors Association may release such information to third parties.

The United Inventors Association (hereinafter “UIA”, “We”, “Us”, or “Our”) has created this Web Site Privacy Policy (hereinafter the “Privacy Policy”) in order to inform you (hereinafter “You”, “Your”, or “Yourself”) as a user of the United Inventors Association Web Site (hereinafter the “Site”) of the circumstances under which We collect information and data from You. a. Traffic Data Collected. UIA automatically gathers general statistical information about visitors to the Site. Accordingly, UIA may automatically track and collect certain technical information from You when You visit the Site. This may include: (i) Your IP address; (ii) Your domain server; (iii) Your type of computer; (iv) Your type of browser; (v) the pages You viewed; and (vi) the goods and services You purchased (hereinafter collectively “Traffic Data”). Traffic Data is anonymous information which does not personally identify You, but which may be used for improving Your experience on the Site. Traffic Data may be provided to third parties. UIA may also use “cookies” for specific purposes such as customizing content specific to Your interests, or storing Your password so that You do not have to re-enter it each time You visit the Site. In order for You to access certain areas of the Site, to become a member of UIA, to receive certain services, to register to attend meetings, or to purchase products that UIA offers via the Site, UIA may require You to provide Us with information that personally identifies You (“Personal Information”). Personal Information may include: (i) contact data such as Your name, mailing address, e-mail address, and telephone number (“Contact Data”); (ii) financial data such as Your account or credit card number (“Financial Data”); (iii) demographic data such as Your zip code (“Demographic Data”); and (iv) information given by You as part of becoming a UIA Certified Professional (“Certified Professional Information”). If You communicate with Us by e-mail, post messages to any of Our chat groups, bulletin boards, or forums, or otherwise complete online forms, or surveys, any information provided in such communication may be collected as Personal Information.

2. Use of Information Collected.
UIA uses Traffic Data to improve Our marketing and promotional efforts, to analyze Our Site usage, to improve Our content and product and service offerings, and to customize Our Site’s content, layout, and services. We may also use Traffic Data to help diagnose problems with Our server, to manage Our Site, and to enhance Our Site based on the usage pattern data We receive. UIA uses Contact Data to send You Our newsletter, online surveys, information about UIA, its meetings, products, and services, and/or promotional material from some of Our partners. We may also use Your Personal Information to deliver information to You that, in some cases, is targeted to Your interests, such as new services and promotions. We may also ask You to provide Us voluntarily with additional information regarding Your personal or business interests, experience, or requests which We may use to customize Our services for You. UIA may also use Your Contact Data to contact You (via e-mail, mail, telephone, or otherwise) when necessary or to advise You about UIA, Our partners, events, Your UIA membership, upcoming meetings, new product and service offerings, donation opportunities, and communications relevant to Your use of the Site. UIA will use Your Contact Data and Your Financial Data to bill You for membership fees, registration fees for meetings, fees for products and services, donations, and the like that have been authorized by You. UIA may use Your Demographic Data to customize and tailor Your experience on the Site, displaying content that UIA thinks You might be interested in and according to Your preferences. UIA will use Your Certified Professional Information to determine whether to accept or deny Your application for UIA Professional Certification.

3. Disclosure of Information to Third Parties.
UIA may disclose Traffic Data to third parties. UIA may share Demographic Data with advertisers and other third parties. UIA may share Your Contact Data with other companies who may want to send You information about their products or services. If You do not want Us to share Your Contact Data with any third parties, please email Us
or select the “opt out” box on Our online forms. Notwithstanding Your opting out pursuant to the foregoing, UIA may share Your Contact Data with third parties for the purpose of executing financial transactions between You and UIA that have been authorized by You. UIA will not disclose Your Financial Data to third parties except for the purpose of executing financial transactions between You and UIA that have been authorized by You. UIA will not disclose Your Certified Professional Information other than as expressly provided for in UIA’s Application for Professional Certification.

4. User Choice Regarding Collection, Use, and Distribution of Personal Information.
You may choose not to provide Us with any Personal Information. In such an event, You can still access and use much of the Site; however, You will not be able to access and use those portions of the Site that require Your Personal Information. If You do not wish to receive information and promotional material from Us or from some of Our partners, You may select the appropriate “opt-out” option each time UIA asks You for Personal Information.

5. Confidentiality and Security of Personal Information.
Except as otherwise provided in this Privacy Policy, UIA will keep Your Personal Information private and will not share it with third parties, unless such disclosure is necessary to: (a) comply with a court order or other legal process; (b) protect Our rights or property; or (c) enforce Our Terms of Service. Your Personal Information is stored on secure servers that are not accessible by third parties. UIA will provide You with the capability to transmit Your Personal Information via secured and encrypted channels if You use a similarly equipped web browser.

UIA employs reasonable and current security methods to prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure correct use of Personal Information. Your UIA membership access account is password protected. We recommend that You do not divulge Your password to anyone. Our personnel will never ask You for Your password in an unsolicited phone call or in an unsolicited e-mail. Remember to sign out of Your account and to close Your browser window when You have finished Your session. This is to help ensure that others cannot access Your Personal Information and correspondence if You share a computer with someone else or are using a computer in a public place where others may have access to it.

Whenever You voluntarily disclose Personal Information online, for example on message boards, through e-mail or in chat areas, that information can be collected and used by others. No data transmission over the Internet or any wireless network can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure. As a result, while We try to protect Your Personal Information, We cannot ensure or guaranty the security of any information You transmit to Us, and You do so at Your own risk.

6. User Ability to Access, Update, and Correct Personal Information.
In order to ensure that all of Your Personal Information is correct and up-to-date, at any time You may visit Your personal profile by accessing Your UIA membership access account at www.uiausa.org. Through Your personal profile You may: (a) review and update Your Personal Information that We have already collected; (b) choose whether or not You wish Us to send You information about UIA, or promotional material from some of Our partners; or (c) choose whether or not You wish Us to share some of Your Personal Information with third parties.

7. Data Collection from Children.
UIA does not knowingly collect any information from children.

8. Other Limits to Your Privacy.
The Site contains links to other web sites. UIA is not responsible for the privacy practices, or the content of such web sites. UIA may also make chat rooms, forums, message boards, news groups, list servs, e-mail lists, and the like available to You. Please understand that any information that is disclosed in these areas becomes public information. UIA has no control over its use and You should exercise caution when deciding to disclose Your Personal Information.

9. Updates and Changes to Privacy Policy.
UIA reserves the right, at any time and without notice, to add to, change, update, or modify this Privacy Policy, simply by posting such change, update, or modification on the Site. Any such change, update, or modification will be effective immediately upon posting on the Site.
